🍇 The Fruit of the Spirit | Week 4 — Patience
Everybody wants patience.
Nobody wants to wait for it.
In Week 4 of The Fruit of the Spirit, Pastor Chuck Tate unpacks what biblical patience really looks like.
Patience is more than simply waiting. It is trusting God when life is not moving according to our timetable—and choosing to respond like Jesus while we wait.
The Holy Spirit wants to produce a patience in us that is slow to anger, full of grace, and willing to trust God’s timing even when we do not understand what He is doing.
đź’ˇ Key Takeaways:
✅ Patience Is More Than Waiting — Biblical patience is not just about how long we wait, but how we respond and how we treat people while we are waiting.
✅ Patience Means Being Slow to Anger — The New Testament word for patience carries the idea of longsuffering and having a long fuse when someone lights a match.
✅ Patience Gives Us Space to Respond Like Jesus — The Holy Spirit helps us pause before reacting, listen before responding, and show grace when anger would be easier.
✅ Patience Reflects the Character of God — God describes Himself as compassionate, merciful, slow to anger, and filled with unfailing love. His patience toward us becomes the model for how we treat others.
✅ God’s Patience Is Mercy, Not Indifference — God gives people repeated opportunities to repent because He does not want anyone to perish.
✅ Patience Trusts God’s Timing — God’s silence does not mean His absence. Even when we cannot see what He is doing, we can continue to wait, trust, and believe that He is faithful.
✅ Impatience Can Cause Us to Get Ahead of God — Abraham and Sarah tried to accomplish God’s promise through their own plan, creating unnecessary pain. Faith waits for God instead of trying to force the outcome.
🙌 BOTTOM LINE:
Impatience says:
“God, You’re taking too long, so I’ll handle it myself.”
Faith says:
“God, I’ve been waiting. I don’t understand. But I still trust You.”
Patience is not weakness.
It is trusting God enough to refuse to let anger control you, refusing to force what He has not released, and refusing to quit just because the answer has not arrived yet.
So when the waiting gets hard:
Stay connected to Jesus.
Keep trusting.
Keep obeying.
Keep believing.
And let the Holy Spirit produce patience in you.
