🍇 The Fruit of the Spirit | Week 2 — Joy

What happens when your circumstances aren’t good—but God still is?

In Week 2 of The Fruit of the Spirit, Pastor Chuck Tate continues through Galatians 5 by unpacking joy—not temporary happiness based on what’s happening around us, but supernatural joy produced by the Holy Spirit within us.

Happiness rises and falls with circumstances.

Joy is rooted in Jesus.

When we stay connected to Christ, the Holy Spirit can produce joy even in seasons of disappointment, suffering, uncertainty, and pain.

đź’ˇ Key Takeaways:

✅ Joy Is Rooted in Christ — Jesus is the source of lasting joy. Circumstances may affect us, but they do not have to control what the Holy Spirit produces within us.

✅ Joy Can Exist in the Middle of Trouble — Paul and Silas worshiped while beaten, imprisoned, and chained. They didn’t praise God because they were in prison—they praised Him while they were in prison.

✅ Joy Is a Choice Before It Becomes a Feeling — We live by faith, not feelings. Sometimes worship begins as a decision before our emotions ever catch up.

✅ The Joy of the Lord Gives Us Strength — Joy is not always the result of escaping the battle. Sometimes joy is the strength God gives us to keep walking through it.

✅ Joy Grows When We Change Our Focus — What we continually think about shapes what is happening inside of us. Scripture calls us to fix our thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise.

✅ We Don’t Have to Pretend Everything Is Fine — Biblical joy does not deny pain, grief, disappointment, or suffering. Joy says, “This hurts—but Jesus is still faithful.”

✅ Staying Connected Produces Fruit — A branch doesn’t manufacture fruit by trying harder. It bears fruit by remaining connected to the vine.

🙌 BOTTOM LINE:

You cannot always control what happens to you.

But through the power of the Holy Spirit, what happens to you does not have to determine what happens inside of you.

Your circumstances may change.

Your feelings may change.

Your plans may change.

But Jesus does not change.

Stay connected to Him.

Practice gratitude.

Choose worship before your circumstances change.

And let the Holy Spirit produce Jesus joy in your life.
